Excursion to the Agafay desert from Marrakech

Your two-day excursion from Marrakech to the Agafay desert begins with a 9:00 am pick-up from your Riad/Hotel. Your journey will take you through the picturesque landscapes of the Atlas Mountains, passing by Tahnaouet. Marvel at the olive groves and citrus orchards before reaching the gateway to the Berber countryside.

Pause for a moment at Asni, a stunning location offering panoramic views of the snow-capped Atlas Mountains (snowfall typically occurs from December to March). Experience the warm hospitality of the locals as you soak in the serene surroundings.

Continue to the Kik Plateau, the entrance to the Agafay desert, where a sense of freedom and inspiration awaits. Indulge in a traditional Moroccan lunch by the lake, surrounded by breathtaking scenery.

In the late afternoon, embark on a sunset camel ride, reminiscent of scenes from “Lawrence of Arabia,” as you traverse the desert landscape.

Arrive at the camel ride starting point for a memorable half-hour journey before reaching the Agafay camp. Here, friendly staff will welcome you with Moroccan hospitality.

Savor a delightful dinner with your companions under the desert sky. You’ll spend the night in comfortable bivouacs designed with tasteful decor. During the summer months, beds can be arranged outdoors upon request, allowing you to sleep under the stars.

Day 2: Agafay Desert – Marrakech

Wake up early to witness the mesmerizing sunrise over the desert. Enjoy a typical breakfast at the camp as you admire the changing colors of the morning sky.

Departure for Marrakech around 10:30 am, offering a different perspective of the landscape. Take in the scenic views of the High Atlas Mountains along the way.
